February is Black History Month at LBHS

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in American History.

There will be school-wide celebrations taking place throughout the month of February (see below for details).

All students and staff are encouraged to engage and join in the celebration. Daily announcements will take place within the first 5 minutes of 2nd period every day in February. 

Spirit Days

  • Week 1: Music and Art; DRESS: 90s Attire Friday (2/4)
  • Week 2: Sunday’s Best; DRESS: Formal Attire; Dress to Impress Friday ( 2/11)
  • Week 3: For the Culture; DRESS: African Print/hairstyles/jewelry or Pan African Flag Colors (red, green, & black) Friday (2/18)
  • Week 4: Black Out ; DRESS: ALL Black Everything Friday (2/25)

Free Movie Screenings: 

  • Every Friday in February @ 3:30pm in E7

  • Week 1: Story Quilts (all week)
  • Week 2: Lawn Games (all week)
  • Week 3: Face Paint (Friday only)
  • Week 4: Operation #goviral TikTok Challenge (all week)
